Kung Fu Seminar

The seminar was a huge success! Folks from the Southampton and Winchester clubs turned out to learn from Ross Sargent’s Kung Fu styles. He shared some very interesting ideas and perspective he has gained training with his instructor Sifu Benno Westra, who has practiced Wing Chun of many lineages.

Last year Sifu Benno became a student of Sifu Wan Kam Leung, a student of Wong Shun-Leung. Ross was keen to share his insights recently gained from his training with Benno. The concepts and techniques inspired by Wan Kam Leung had both similarities to those of our previous experience and some excellent differences. A key topic of the seminar was the stance; we considered the strengths and weaknesses of various standing postures, ’square’ and ‘triangluar’. As usual Ross delivered interesting and powerful perspective on kung fu practice. The usual friendly and welcoming atmosphere was amplified by the excitement of a full days intensive training and a great time was had by all, brilliant!
