‘Charlie and Martin and very good at making people feel welcome and at ease. I think it’s a great atmosphere and everyone wants to not only improve their selves but also help each other to get better. The instructors give feedback by giving a positive point and then give each person one goal to improve their technique. It works.
A good story here - Before Wing Chun I was dealing with constant nausea and dizziness. It had lasted for around 5 months and I had had numerous tests with numerous doctors, I went to hospital twice for blood tests but none of the doctors could say what was wrong with me and none of the medication worked. It was making my life hell- I struggled through each day at work and had trouble doing anything in my spare time. From the date I started Wing Chun I changed the way I think, the way I breathe, the way I exercise and the way I move. After 3-4 weeks my stomach was already feeling better. Although I can’t be certain, I’m sure that Wing Chun had a big influence in that change.
I feel much more assured of my ability if I ever did get into a violent situation but that’s not that likely to happen and not why I keep training. Wing Chun relaxes me, it has given me the control to relax myself it changes my body, it has totally transformed my posture from a hunched back and shoulders, I now sit upright naturally and walk with my shoulders back. The increased knowledge of and use of my individual joints and muscles has resulting in less aches and pains - if I get an ache in my back I can usually stretch it out in a way I couldn’t have before Wing Chun. Crucially, from observation of those around me I know I can improve so much more in these areas and others I haven’t mentioned like awareness, focus, flexibility, core strength, explosive power etc.’ (Adult classes.
